About Us

Child's Voice is a non-public oral deaf school where children who are hard of hearing and profoundly deaf learn to listen and talk, without the use of sign language. Child's Voice, the only state-approved oral deaf education school in Northern Illinois, was founded by a group of dedicated and determined parents who believed that deaf children should have the opportunity to learn to talk.

Our goal is helping children who are profoundly deaf and hearing-impaired optimize their listening, speech, language, academic skills and their self-confidence so that they can be successful in a mainstream educational setting and society in general.

An innovative curriculum developed by Jean Moog, an internationally recognized leader in deaf education, is the key to our successful program. The award-winning curriculum, developed by Moog while principal at Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis (CID), has twice been recognized for excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Please contact the school.

The curriculum is based on small groups of students meeting objectives in all academic areas as well as spoken language skills. The program is adapted to the individual learning style of each child.

With this unique partnership at Child's Voice, the opportunity for an oral education now exists for children who are hearing impaired and deaf in Illinois. If you would like to learn more about Child's Voice, please contact the school.
