To be successful with a cochlear implant, a student requires intensive aural rehabilitation following device activation. While the duration of therapy may differ for each student, it is necessary to teach the student what s/he is hearing with his/her device. At Child's Voice, we use the Jump Start curriculum, an accelerated approach for auditory training, created by the Moog Center for Deaf Education in St. Louis, Missouri. Through the activities in the Jump Start, a new cochlear implant user can learn to identify and discriminate sounds, words and connected speech and therefore comprehend what s/he is hearing.
Our experienced staff is available for aural rehabilitation during the school day and after school hours by private appointment.
